About Moldcell Foundation

Moldcell Foundation is a platform that will unite all of Moldcell’s (a mobile network operator in Moldova) social responsibility initiatives. Inspired and encouraged by the activities and results of Chaudhary Foundation, Moldcell Foundation was launched on October 20, 2020. The event was attended by USA Ambassador to Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan, Managing Director of CG Corp Global and Vice-Chairman of Chaudhary Foundation, Nirvana Chaudhary, creative community, and Moldcell Board of Directors.

In its 20 years of existence, besides being a high-quality network and accessible mobile communication, Moldcell has established itself as a benchmark for Corporate Social Responsibility in Moldova, having undertaken hundreds of social and philanthropic projects.
On November 11, 2020, Moldcell Foundation signed a Cooperation Agreement on digital inclusion of older persons through intergenerational dialogue. This is the first partnership project under the Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations and Moldcell regarding the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Moldova.
Moldcell Foundation’s mission is to positively impact the lives of Moldovans by combining digital transformation and use of technologies based on its Digital Responsibility key areas: Education, Society, Social Impact Investment, and UN Sustainable Development Goals support.

Activities Undertaken By Moldcell Foundation

Competitiveness Project

Moldcell Foundation was launched together with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Companies from Creative Industries in Moldova for Competitiveness Project of Moldova funded by USAID and Moldcell Foundation, regarding the extension of the digital education opportunities in the Creative Industries Center ARTCOR.

With the support of Moldcell Foundation, ARTCOR School will bring new opportunities of educational courses, workshops, and open lessons in online and offline format for the young people who want to try themselves in the creative profession in interior design, design and sound production, music, podcasting, illustrations, comics, 3D animation, storytelling, etc. Creative professions, as well as the ones related to technologies and freelancing, are at the top of the most desired professions by youth.

COVID-19 Response

The year 2020 continues to be the moment when all the communities should get mobilized in order to support the medical systems of the countries. Moldcell helped the medical system of Moldova in the areas it needed most: 10 lung ventilation equipment pieces for 8 hospitals from Moldova, 5000 protection suits for medical staff, free minutes and Internet, free daily hot lunches that continue being offered for the doctors, who are the heroes of our times.

Mobile Marathon

Internet being an indispensable part of our lives is still not known by the elderly population of the country. This was the reason why back in 2015 Moldcell started a project meant to teach the elderly population how to use the Internet and smartphones. Tens of rural areas have been visited, thousands of grannies trained. The project has evolved now into the #LikefromGrannies project encouraging teenagers to teach their grandparents to use digital services, social networks, and Internet.

#Internet Without Worries

This was an educational project about online safety for kids and parents launched by Moldcell back in 2018. Moldcell offers the Internet and we do care for the way it is used by our kids. The Internet offers a lot of advantages, at the same time there are risks about which parents should know, in order to protect kids. Educational sessions for parents about data privacy, informational security, cyberbullying, psychological advice. And play-based sessions with kids teaching them the rules of safe Internet. During the pandemics, weekly sessions were held online on the Moldcell Facebook page.
