Volunteer’s View – Amit Bista - Chaudhary Foundation
My name is Amit Bista and I volunteered with Chaudhary Foundation for “Artificial Limb Fitment Camp” between January 11 to February 21, 2019, in Kathmandu and Nawalpur district. The purpose of the camp was to provide free prosthesis limbs to people across Nepal.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Kathmandu Model College (KMC), I was looking for an opportunity to get exposure in the development sector. Hence, I was elated to get a chance to volunteer with one of the renowned organizations in the country. It was a great learning experience for me.
From the first day at the organization, I knew that my stint at CF would help me in my personal and professional growth. The dedicated team of Chaudhary Foundation taught me about teamwork and leadership. And, the project I was involved in was really fulfilling. I saw people who had come in with the support of different equipment go back on foot. Seeing the joy in the beneficiaries’ faces on being able to walk without support after receiving prosthesis legs was the happiest and proudest moment for me and the entire team. I felt blessed to be a part of such a special project.
What I learned and experienced at Chaudhary Foundation will remain with me and will help me in my future endeavors. I thank the team for giving me the opportunity and trusting me with this work. I look forward to working with CF on other projects in the future.
